Ellen Klasson

Managing Director

Ever since joining Terra Search Partners in 2017, Ellen has forged lasting relationships with clients and candidates, earning their trust with her transparency and direct communication. She’s known for her ability to launch a search within a new geography or a less-frequently served industry sector and uncover ideally suited, senior-level candidates. Part of that comes from determination, and the rest is from her first-hand knowledge of working directly in the real estate industry.

Most recently, Ellen was Senior Director of the Leadership Network at the Urban Land Institute (ULI) in Washington, D.C. In this role, Ellen oversaw the leadership initiatives for the organization’s 40,000 members worldwide. Prior to joining ULI, Ellen co-directed CohnReznick’s Real Estate Development Advisory practice in Atlanta, analyzing real estate opportunities for developers and municipalities. She is also a former Vice President of Economic Development at Central Atlanta Progress, where she attracted new investment into Downtown Atlanta. While there, she managed the architecture, content, and exhibit design for the Center for Civil and Human Rights. She previously consulted to developers while a project manager at RCLCO.

Ellen continues to be involved nationally with the Urban Land Institute, where she is a member of its Urban Revitalization Council, the Vice Chair of its Women’s Leadership Initiative, and a member of the Diversity Equity and Inclusion Council. She is also a volunteer with UrbanPlan, a program for high school and college students that introduces them to the complex trade-offs of real estate development.

Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emory University and a Masters of City & Regional Planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
